I think I made this up… But if it’s someone else’s I’m sorry - please correct.
In pairs. Build a premise together, by going back and forth asking questions. Responder can say “Yes!” or give a Joyful “Nope!”.
P1: “Do you want to be a pirate?”
P2: “Yes. Do you want to be my first mate?”
P1: “Nope! Do you want to be at the high seas?”
P2: ”Yes! Do you want to be best friends?”
Etc.
When performers have enough information, they say “Do you want to do a scene?” and if the other says “Yes!” they immediately start doing the scene they’ve just set up.
All about being in scenes that both performers really want to be in.
This is a great follow up to Yes, Lets! (w/ Joyful Nope) - taking the joyful nope and using it to create scenes.
It’s a good ‘tuning’ exercise - think of how a band tunes their instruments but for improv. Getting performers to know the types of offers and ideas that really inspire each other.
