Summary

This course is for improvisers that want to learn how to create their own show. We’ll be looking at formats, stage craft, sustaining scenes and being a positive and supportive team member. We’ll build the show around the students who apply - so the final show might have narrative, episodic, non-linear or short form elements.

• We’ll work hard in this course, I absolutely believe we can create a show we’re proud of in 3 months but I’ll expect people to be there on time (Farnham traffic allowing) and to work as hard as we play. If that doesn’t sound like it’s for you then we’ll still be putting on much more relaxed (but equally joyous) drop-in sessions on Thursdays led by various members of the community (as well as one-off Saturday classes based around specific skills). Please make sure you’re willing to work with me on this.
• In terms of timings, check-in and warm-ups will take up no more than the initial 15 minutes of class - we’ll be moving on to exercises and scene work after that.
• My first thought was to limit the class to 8 people - I’m open to bringing it up to 10 as long as people are willing to focus during the sessions.
• It’s still going to be LOADS of fun. But this is very much a class for people to get better at improv, not just for people to have a laugh and see people they like - it’ll be that too but that’s not the primary aim.
