One player tells a story. It is an entirely made up story, not one from their own lives.

At the end of each sentence the other player says Yes or No.

Yes.

In this case the story continues as normal.

No.

In this case the storyteller must come up with an alternative line.

One upon a time, there was a frog who wanted to play the Ukulele.

Yes.

And she was celebrated for her talent throughout the swamp.

No.

And, although she was talented, no one appreciated her music.

Yes.

Etc.

Teaching Notes

This exercise is about listening and agility. It requires you to really think on your feet.

The person who is gifting the Yes/Nos should be being truthful. It’s not random. It’s them clearly communicating what sort of story they like.

When creating a new line, try and make it very different from the other lines, to truly move the story in a new direction.
