This is a pair exercise.
One partner lies on the floor, prone. Legs and arms relaxed.
Phase One
The other partner moves intentionally towards the first player in order to touch them.
The player on the floor must move themselves so that they are NOT touched as nonchalantly as possible. Using the least energy to still move away from the touch.
After a while, swap roles.
Phase Two
Same set up as above.
The player on their feet must make a theatrical gesture, as if trying to move the other with their mind
The floor-bound player must then react as if they indeed DO have telekinetic powers.
You can try this both ways too.
Phase One
If you’re the partner going for the touch, make sure you actually do try and touch - as slowly and clearly as possible make it a clear physicalised question, in need of a response.
You can begin by just walking around the player and going for extremities. After a while you can bring in your hands, your head, move in different ways.
For even greater difficulty go for the trunk or central mass.
Phase Two
Encourage students to try different theatrical gestures and see how that translates into movement.
You are developing a grammar of movement between the two of you.
