Method

This is a scenic shortform performance game.

Two performers begin a scene (host can ask for anything to inspire that scene - location, relationship, emotion, first line etc).

After the scene and characters are established, at any time, the host can call out New choice! - this means that the performer who just said the last line must reinterpret it somehow.

My favourite yoga position is the downward dog.

New choice!

My favourite yoga position is sun salutation.

New choice!

My favourite yoga position is … tiger practices guitar.

Etc.

The last thing said becomes the actual line from which the scene proceeds.

Either player can be new choiced-ed at any time, at the host’s discretion.

Performance Notes

Let the scene establish itself before interrupting it with new choices.

Pick good lines to new choice - things with a noun that can change or a sentiment that can escalate.

Vary the amount of new choices - sometimes just do one or two, sometimes a long run.

Edit after the climax of a run of good new choices.

This game gets you past your go-tos the things your brain naturally comes up with and forces you to think outside the box.
