I love the game Semi-intimate questions (created by the legendary Shannon Stott and introduced to me by the brilliant improviser and theatre maker, Stephen Davidson). It’s about asking questions that go deeper than your average small talk opener. Over the years I’ve collected a vast number of these from students.
Here are my favourites.
You can use them as scene prompts, particularly in formats where characters are monologuing to the audience … and they’re also fun outside improv at parties and large gatherings to let people get to know each other.
**WARNING: Different people have wildly varying conceptions of what is semi-intimate.
